Iron Tails Saloon
New England's Newest Biker Bar

We've been hearing riders starting to rave about a new biker bar and just had to check it out for ourselves.  It was a perfect sunny day to check out Iron Tails Saloon on Route 109 in Acton, Maine. It really was an enjoyable ride up from Boston, we knew that we were there when we saw a large parking lot with about 50-60 bikes outside.  The well maintained lot had plenty of room for a lot more bikes!!

The outside patio was fairly well packed. Everyone was enjoying the fantastic weather, listening to the band playing inside, enjoying a cold drink, and watching the bikes coming and going. Simply enjoying life!

As we went inside, the first thing we noticed was a huge, well laid out wraparound bar with plenty of seating and a professionally laid out stage with lighting that equals many big city nightclubs. For those that didn't want to sit at the bar there are plenty of tables and booths throughout Iron Tails.  Toward the back of the bar there are a couple of pool tables that are framed with leather couches setting up a separate area.

The band on the stage was cranking out some great tunes, very good mix of music, perfect volume, not too loud. Perfect for conversation, yet loud enough to get you rocking!

GREAT chili!!! Good temperature and right amount of hotness. Served in crock with melted cheese and nachos on the side Plenty of meat, beans and onion not overcooked. I've Gotta say this is one of the best bowls of chili I've had in a very long time. I found out later that it is the owner's special recipe. He hit a home run with it!!  The crock was served on a fancy square plate with colored nacho chips. Not a bad thing, just an observation.

A guy named Jim and his  friend were sitting next to me, They ordered oysters and shrimp and reported that they really enjoyed them. Two thumbs up!  On the other side a couple of guys were having burgers and beers.  They also reported that the food was fantastic!    Overall, I'd give the food a big thumbs up!!    Very good quality, very tasty, well prepared, nice presentation, and great value.   Well worth the trip!!

Our server at the bar seemed a little too busy at times but certainly made up for it with enthhusiasm! It was pretty obvious that she was new and still learning the ropes.  Co-owner, Lori, was also working the bar and was really attentive. She was helping out our server as needed and made it a point to check with every patron's satisfaction with their meal and drinks.

The bathrooms were very clean and well thought out.  The Lady's room was bright, exceptionally clean, and had an assortment of toiletries on a shelf above the sinks.  The Men's room was perfect!   Diamond plate everywhere!!  (On a side note...  when I was inside photographing the room a patron started to walk in and saw me inside with a camera...  Kinda freaked him out for just a minute.  He didn't quite know what was going on!!   LOL.   I reassured him that I was all done with the camera and left quickly. - - LOL)

Out back there are picnic tables, a brand new burnout pit, horseshoe pits, and basketball hoop!  A few folks were sitting outside at the picnic tables enjoying the weather and some quiet conversation.   Some of the tables were in the shade, others were in the sun.  Within a few weeks a protective cage will be completed for the burnout pit but it is obvious that folks have already started to enjoy it!!!!  Co-owner Gregg mentioned that folks will be invited to ride their bike in the front door, thru the bar, and out the back door to the burnout pit.  That will be a sight to see (and hear!)!!

Overall, for a place that has been open for a few months we have found a place that has the winning combination. The owners Gregg and Lori are planning to build New England's best biker bar.  They aren't going to compromise by trying to make it appeal to everyone.  It is a biker bar and the best one!  This place has only been open for a few months but it is QUICKLY becoming a favorite of  motorcyclists across New England!

You've GOT to check it out!
